“More Than a Tournament” is a behind-the-scenes documentary that captures the heart behind José Trevino’s annual South Texas baseball event. Filmed over several days, it follows the people and purpose that make it special—from families in the stands to the team working tirelessly behind the scenes. The film blends candid moments, interviews, and cinematic storytelling to show how one player’s vision grew into something much bigger than baseball, uniting an entire community through hope, pride, and purpose.
For three consecutive years, I’ve partnered with José Trevino and 24sports, capturing everything from event photography and cinematic recaps to a full behind-the-scenes documentary. Our collaboration began during his time with the New York Yankees and has grown into a trusted creative partnership built on storytelling, consistency, and heart—documenting how one weekend has become a major event for his South Texas community, bringing families, kids, and fans together around something bigger than baseball.
What makes this work different isn’t scale—it’s presence. Over the years with José Trevino, I’ve filmed in dugouts, parking lots, and on fields, adapting to the rhythm of real life instead of trying to control it. There’s no crew waiting for perfect light, just instinct and trust—moving with the moment, blending in until the camera disappears. The goal is to create something that feels lived-in and close, where every shot pulls you into the dust, laughter, and heartbeat of the story. It’s documentary work that fits into the environment instead of rearranging it—personal, grounded, and real.
